The 9 Best Conference Engagement Tools in 2026

Conference engagement tools split into two families that are often confused: polling and Q&A tools (Slido, Mentimeter, Pigeonhole Live, Vevox, Poll Everywhere) that show charts and questions on the screen, and live walls (QR Wall, Everwall, Walls.io, Wooclap's message wall) that show what attendees post. None of the five polling tools can display an attendee's photo. Prices below were read on each vendor's site in September 2026.

Disclosure: QR Wall is our product. It appears once in this list, reviewed by the same standard as everything else, including where it is not the right choice. Competitor prices were read on each vendor's own site in September 2026.

The 9 tools, reviewed

1. Slido

Best for: Q&A and polls inside Webex, Teams or PowerPoint  •  Starting price: Free (100 participants); paid plans are annual-only and not shown on the public page (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Slido, owned by Cisco, is the default for structured audience Q&A with upvoting, live polls, quizzes and word clouds, and it runs inside Webex, Teams and PowerPoint. The free Basic plan allows 100 participants, three polls and one quiz per session, and a session lasts seven days.

It has no photo wall: Slido's own community answer is that participants cannot upload images. Paid pricing is client-rendered on slido.com and did not appear when we checked, and the vendor bills annually only, so budget for a year, not an event.

Strengths

  • ✓ Best-in-class moderated Q&A
  • ✓ Deep integrations with the tools a corporate room already uses

Watch out for

  • – No attendee media of any kind
  • – Annual billing only; free plan caps at three polls per session

2. Mentimeter

Best for: Polished presenter-led polling  •  Starting price: Free (50 participants per month); Basic $11.99 per presenter per month, billed yearly (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Mentimeter turns a slide deck into an interactive presentation: multiple choice, scales, word clouds, quizzes and open text, with results animating on the presenter's screen. The free plan includes most question types but caps participation at 50 people per month, counted from your account-creation date, not per event.

Basic is $11.99 per presenter per month billed yearly and lifts the cap; Pro is $24.99 and adds branding. Images are presenter-side only, so it cannot show attendee photos.

Strengths

  • ✓ The largest library of question and slide types
  • ✓ Unlimited participants on paid plans

Watch out for

  • – The 50-participant free cap is monthly, so a second small event in the same month runs out
  • – No attendee photos or messages on the wall

3. QR Wallthat's us

Best for: Attendee photos and messages on the keynote screen, moderated  •  Starting price: Free ($0); Premium $10.99/mo; Professional $19.99/mo

QR Wall is the live-wall family: attendees scan the code in the corner of the screen and their photos, messages and short videos appear on it in about a second, in a Slideshow, Grid or TV view with a Keynote look. It is not a polling tool and does not run inside PowerPoint; organizers who need charts pair it with Slido or Mentimeter.

Professional at $19.99 a month adds AI screening of every post with five sensitivity levels, a manual approval queue on the host's phone, attendee contact capture with a CSV export, and the host's logo inside the QR code. The free plan shows the 5 most recent posts, enough to test on a laptop before the event.

Strengths

  • ✓ The only tool here that is free to start and shows attendee media within a second
  • ✓ AI moderation and a one-tap approval queue before anything reaches the screen

Watch out for

  • – No polls, quizzes or word clouds
  • – The free plan is a preview; a real session needs Premium or Professional

4. Pigeonhole Live

Best for: Multi-session conferences with moderated Q&A and an agenda  •  Starting price: Free (100 participants); Presenter $13/mo billed annually; Standard $150/mo billed annually (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Pigeonhole Live is built for event programmes: an agenda, moderator and speaker views, Q&A, polls, quizzes, chat and surveys. The free Starter plan allows 100 participants with unlimited Q&As and polls.

The $13 Presenter tier (250 participants) covers presentations only; running an event with sessions needs Standard at $150 a month billed annually, $1,800 a year, for 2,000 participants. The projector view shows questions and polls, never attendee media.

Strengths

  • ✓ Purpose-built moderation and agenda tooling
  • ✓ Generous free Q&A

Watch out for

  • – The jump from $156 to $1,800 a year to unlock event mode
  • – No attendee photos

5. Vevox

Best for: PowerPoint-native polling for internal comms  •  Starting price: Free (100 participants); Starter $11.95/mo billed annually (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Vevox is polling, Q&A and quizzes with strong PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams add-ins, and a profanity filter from the cheapest paid tier. The free plan allows 100 participants for one user.

Starter is $11.95 a month ($143.40 a year) for 250 participants; Pro is $24.95 a month for 1,500. Image polls are presenter uploads; attendees answer in text.

Strengths

  • ✓ The best PowerPoint and Teams integration in the list
  • ✓ Profanity filter from $11.95

Watch out for

  • – 100-participant free cap; SSO is Enterprise-only
  • – No attendee photos

6. Poll Everywhere

Best for: Rooms that need SMS voting  •  Starting price: Free (40 audience); Present $10/mo billed annually (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Poll Everywhere runs polls, word clouds and Q&A with unlimited questions even on the free plan, and is the tool to pick when part of the audience will vote by text message. After a 30-day trial at 700, the free Intro plan caps the audience at 40.

Present is $10 a month ($120 billed annually) for 700 audience; Engage is $49 a month and Teams $84 a month, and every self-serve tier caps at 700. Logo removal starts at Teams.

Strengths

  • ✓ SMS voting
  • ✓ Unlimited questions on free

Watch out for

  • – Free is 40 people after the trial
  • – Every self-serve tier tops out at 700

7. Everwall

Best for: A social plus web-form wall priced by the day  •  Starting price: $49 per event day or $399 per 30 days (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Everwall is an event social wall that takes social posts, a web form (text, images and video) reached by QR code, SMS and MMS for another $19 a day, and email. It is the only tool here that states its refresh speed: sub-second, no page reloads, on as many screens as you like.

Self-service pricing is $49 per event day or $399 for a 30-day pass; full-service is $299 a day plus a $2,500 setup fee. There is no free plan, only a single three-hour trial that shows trial warnings on the wall. Manual moderation is $29 a day and logo removal $49 a day, so a fully corporate day comes to about $127.

Strengths

  • ✓ True per-day pricing and the fastest stated refresh
  • ✓ SMS input for audiences without smartphones

Watch out for

  • – Moderation and branding removal are daily add-ons
  • – Instagram hashtag sources need a Business account; the vendor's hub page still shows an older $39 rate while the detail page says $49

8. Walls.io

Best for: Multi-network branded wall for a 30-day event window  •  Starting price: Event Pass from $250 per 30 days; no free plan (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Walls.io aggregates posts from the widest list of networks in this roundup, including Bluesky and Mastodon, moderates them with AI and blocklists, and is EU-hosted and WCAG 2.1 AA. The Event Pass starts at $250 for 30 days: one event, five sources, up to 500 live viewers. The free plan has been discontinued; there is a 14-day trial with no card.

The catch for a QR-driven wall is that Direct Posts, where attendees upload a photo or message through a form without a social account, sit in the Interactivity Pack, an add-on on every plan whose price is not published, and are included only in Enterprise, which the vendor says is usually around $6,900 a year.

Strengths

  • ✓ Broadest network coverage and strong moderation
  • ✓ EU hosting and accessibility compliance for procurement-heavy buyers

Watch out for

  • – The $250 pass excludes direct guest posts; over 500 live viewers the wall drops to a static mode with a banner
  • – Website and signage plans refresh every 15 minutes and the vendor says they are not suitable for live events

9. Wooclap

Best for: Workshops where attendees answer with a photo  •  Starting price: Free (5 questions per month, up to 1,000 participants); Basic $13/mo billed annually (checked September 2026 on the vendor's site; confirm before you buy)

Wooclap is the one polling tool here where attendees can send a photo: its Message Wall lets participants take or attach a picture that appears on screen in a chat-style feed. Image questions and the usual polls and quizzes are included, and even the free plan allows up to 1,000 participants per event.

The free plan is limited to five active questions per 30 days with no exports. Basic is $13 a month billed annually; Pro is about $25 per presenter per month, a figure that did not render on the vendor's page and comes from its search snippet.

Strengths

  • ✓ Attendee photos are possible
  • ✓ 1,000-participant cap even on free

Watch out for

  • – Five questions a month on free
  • – The wall is a chat feed, not a mosaic or slideshow

How to choose a conference engagement tool

  1. 1

Decide whether the screen must show attendee photos and messages or only poll results, word clouds and questions. Slido, Mentimeter, Pigeonhole, Vevox and Poll Everywhere cannot display attendee media at all; QR Wall, Everwall and Walls.io are built for it, with Wooclap in between.

  2. 2

Match billing to your calendar: per-day (Everwall $49), per-30-days (Walls.io $250), monthly (QR Wall from $10.99), or annual-only subscriptions (Slido, Mentimeter, Wooclap, Vevox).

  3. 3

Check the audience cap on the tier you can afford: Poll Everywhere 700, Walls.io 500 live viewers, Pigeonhole Presenter 250, Mentimeter free 50 per month.

  4. 4

Confirm moderation and branding removal are in the tier, not an add-on (Everwall) or Enterprise-only (Walls.io direct posts).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Slido have a photo wall?

No. Slido's own community answer is that participants cannot upload images; it supports polls, Q&A, quizzes and word clouds only. For photos on the screen, pair it with a live wall such as QR Wall or Everwall.

Is Mentimeter free for 100 people?

Not within one month. The free plan allows 50 participants per month, counted from your account-creation date, so a 100-person session needs Basic at $11.99 per presenter per month, billed yearly.

Which tools let attendees post photos to the big screen without an app?

QR Wall (from $0), Everwall (web form, $49 a day), Social Walls by Taggbox (SnapUp, quote-based), Walls.io (Direct Posts, only via the Interactivity Pack add-on or Enterprise) and Wooclap's Message Wall. All work from a QR code and a browser form, no social account.

Can I use a polling tool and a photo wall at the same conference?

Yes, and many organizers do: Slido or Mentimeter for the session's polls and Q&A, and a live wall on the screens between sessions and during breaks. QR Wall's TV view is designed for that lobby or ballroom screen.
