QR Wall: facts, plans and limits

QR Wall — QR Wall is a live event wall: guests scan a QR code shown on a TV or projector and post photos, messages, short videos and emoji reactions from their phone's browser, and each post appears on the screen in about a second — no app and no guest accounts.

QR Wall (qrwall.live) puts a live photo and message wall on any screen with a web browser. The host creates a wall in under a minute and opens its display link on a TV, projector or laptop; the QR code is shown on the wall itself. Guests scan it with their phone camera, and their photos, text messages, short video clips and emoji reactions land on the screen about a second later, in Slideshow, Grid or TV view. There is no app to install and guests never create an account. A free plan runs a live wall; Premium keeps every post on screen and lets the host download everything; Professional adds AI moderation, an approval queue, contact capture and branding for organisations.

Checked against the product's code on 2026-10-15. Machine-readable: /facts.json; for agents, a read-only MCP server at https://qrwall.live/mcp (card: /.well-known/mcp.json) and plain JSON at /ask?q=. Prices in US dollars.

Quick answers

Is QR Wall free?
Yes, there is a free plan with no time limit: a live wall showing the 5 newest posts at a time and keeping the first 30. Premium is $10.99/month and Professional $19.99/month, both cancel-any-time.
What does it cost for a single event?
Either one month of Premium ($10.99) cancelled after the event, or a $14.99 one-off unlock of that one wall with no subscription. Choose Professional ($19.99/month) if the screen is public and needs moderation or an approval queue.
Do guests need an app?
No. Guests scan the QR code with their phone camera and post from the browser. No app, no account.
Can I approve posts before they show?
Yes, on Professional: the approval queue holds every post until you tap yes, and AI moderation screens text, photos and videos first.
Can I download all the photos afterwards?
Yes, on Premium and Professional (or with the $14.99 unlock): one ZIP with every photo, video and message, plus a shareable gallery link.
Does it work on a smart TV?
Yes. Open qrwall.live/tv on the TV's browser and pair it with your phone, or plug in any laptop. Anything with a web browser works.
Which languages?
The wall and the guest page run in English, Spanish or Bahasa Indonesia, chosen per wall, on every plan. The host dashboard is in English or Spanish.

How guests take part

No app and no account
Guests point their phone camera at the QR code on the screen; the posting page opens in the phone's browser. Guests never sign up or log in.
What guests can post
Photos (from the camera or the gallery), text messages up to 1,500 characters, emoji reactions, and on paid walls video clips up to 15 seconds.
How fast
A post appears on the wall about a second after it is sent (pushed live over a WebSocket; with moderation on, after the check).
Optional email recap
On free walls a guest can ask to be emailed their photos after the event.

The screen

Any screen with a web browser
TV, projector, laptop or tablet. On a smart TV, open qrwall.live/tv and pair it by scanning a code with your phone — no typing on the remote.
Views
Slideshow (a scrolling stream), Grid (a mosaic of recent posts) and, on paid walls, TV (one post at a time, full screen, new posts jump the queue).
Phone as remote
The host can switch views, pause and change settings from their phone while the wall runs on the venue screen.
Themes
Default (all plans); Elegant, Memorial and four seasonal themes — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, with animated scenes — on Premium; Keynote on Professional.
Setup time
Under a minute: create a wall, open its display link on the screen. The QR code is on the wall itself.

Moderation (Professional)

AI moderation
Every text, photo and video (sampled frames) is scored before it reaches the screen, with 5 sensitivity levels; the default is level 3. On by default for new Professional walls.
Fails closed
If the moderation service cannot be reached, the post is held rather than shown.
Approval queue
With the queue on, nothing appears until the host approves it with one tap, from a phone or laptop.
Reactions
Reactions are limited to the wall's own set of 8, so they can't carry text onto the screen.

Data and privacy

What is stored about guests
The post and its time, a device identifier kept on the guest's phone, and — only if the host turns it on (Professional) — a contact detail the guest chose to give.
How long
Walls are kept until the host deletes them; deleting a wall removes its photos, videos, messages and contacts.
Subprocessors
Stripe (payments), Resend (email), OpenAI (moderation), PostHog (product analytics).
Company
Trying Things, LLC, 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States. Support: [email protected].

Limits

Uploads
Photos up to 50 MB (resized for the screen); videos up to 25 MB and 20 seconds (the phone records 15).
Posting rate
Up to 15 posts a minute per guest phone, per wall.
Number of walls
No limit on how many walls an account creates.
Languages
The wall and the guest page run in English, Spanish or Bahasa Indonesia, chosen per wall. The host dashboard is in English or Spanish. The marketing site is also in Portuguese and Indonesian; the wall itself is not in Portuguese.

Where QR Wall fits — and where it doesn't

A good fit

  • A room of guests with smartphones and one shared screen: weddings, birthdays, holiday and seasonal parties, company events, conferences, classrooms, memorials and celebrations of life.
  • Hosts who want guests' photos and messages on the screen live, during the event — not only collected for later.
  • Events where installing an app or creating accounts would stop people from taking part.
  • Organisations that need a public screen to be safe: AI moderation and an approval queue on Professional.

Not the right fit

  • Guests without smartphones need to post. Posting happens on the guest's own phone; there is no SMS or kiosk mode in the standard product.
  • A wall that pulls posts from Instagram, X or TikTok hashtags. QR Wall shows what guests post directly to the wall; it does not aggregate social media feeds.
  • Live polls, quizzes or upvoted Q&A as the main activity. QR Wall is a photo and message wall; a dedicated audience-polling tool fits that better.
  • The wall or guest page in a language other than English, Spanish or Bahasa Indonesia. Those are the three languages the wall and guest page support today.
  • Keeping every photo on the free plan. Free walls keep the first 30 posts; Premium ($10.99/month) or a $14.99 one-off unlock keeps them all.
  • Thousands of guests posting in the same few minutes. Typical walls serve events of 20 to 200 guests. For crowds where 1,000+ phones may post in the same few minutes, contact support before the event; Professional's Event Performance Boost reserves capacity for 200+.
  • Guest videos with sound on the wall. Video clips play muted on the wall (15 seconds each).

See it working (no signup)

  • 90-second product demo (video + transcript) — The real app: creating a wall, a guest scanning and posting, the post landing on the screen.
  • Try it from your phone — The QR code on the homepage is a live demo wall: scan it, post, and the post appears on the page. Nothing is stored.
  • Moderation demo — AI screening and the approval queue, played through the real interface with sample posts.
  • Seasonal themes, live — A playable wall in the Halloween theme (also /thanksgiving-parties, /christmas-parties, /new-years-eve-parties): tap a reaction and watch it fly.
  • Video library — Walkthroughs and real-wall recordings.
  • Participation data — Open dataset on how guests actually post at events (CSV).
  • Media kit — Real screenshots and recordings per use case, with alt text, quotable descriptions and a license to show them.
